How to Use mergepdf.ca

All our tools work the same way: add your files, choose your settings, then download. Nothing is uploaded — everything happens right here in your browser.

Merge PDFs

  1. Drag and drop PDFs into the drop zone, or click to browse.
  2. Reorder files by dragging the handle (⋮⋮) or using the up/down arrows.
  3. Click Download Combined to save the merged file.
  4. Use Preview in Browser to see the result first.

Split a PDF

  1. Upload a PDF — you'll see thumbnails of every page.
  2. Click any page to select it. Use "Select All" or "Deselect All" for quick picking.
  3. Click Extract Selected Pages to download a new PDF with only those pages.

Annotate a PDF

  1. Open a PDF and use the toolbar to choose a tool (pen, highlighter, eraser, text).
  2. Adjust the tool size with the slider, and pick a color from the color picker.
  3. Zoom in/out or fit to width using the zoom dropdown.
  4. Draw or type directly on the page. Navigate between pages with the Prev/Next buttons.
  5. Click Download Annotated to save your marked‑up PDF (all pages).

Lock PDF (Add Password)

  1. Upload a PDF you want to protect.
  2. Enter a strong password in the field provided.
  3. Click Lock & Download to save an encrypted copy that requires the password to open.

Remove Password (Unlock PDF)

  1. Upload a password‑protected PDF.
  2. Enter the password when prompted.
  3. Click Unlock PDF to download a copy without password protection.

Compress PDF

  1. Upload a PDF file.
  2. Select a compression quality (Low, Medium, High).
  3. Click Compress & Download to save a smaller version of your PDF.

Extract Text from PDF

  1. Upload a PDF — the text will be extracted automatically.
  2. View the extracted text in the text area.
  3. Click Copy to Clipboard or Download as .txt to save the text.

Add Watermark

  1. Upload a PDF.
  2. Choose between text or image watermark.
  3. Customize opacity and rotation.
  4. Click Apply Watermark & Download to save the watermarked PDF.

Add Page Numbers

  1. Upload a PDF.
  2. Choose position (e.g., bottom right), font, size, color, and format.
  3. Use {page} and {total} in the format field for dynamic numbering.
  4. Click Add Page Numbers & Download to save the numbered PDF.

Edit PDF Metadata

  1. Upload a PDF — current metadata (title, author, subject, keywords) will be shown.
  2. Edit the fields as desired.
  3. Click Save Metadata & Download to get a PDF with updated metadata.
